A woman from San Anselmo came to the appraisal event held on Wednesday, June 27th with this beautiful embroidered ladies skirt. She knew nothing about the piece except that it was bought in San Francisco, given to her by an ex-boyfriend in 1987. Asian Specialist Harry Huang informed her that it was approximately 100 years old and was quite a collectible piece due to its fine condition. Huang also pointed out that it would be an obvious choice for auction. He noted that the market for antique Asian clothing is quite strong and that the skirt is a higher end example, crafted for a wealthy woman. She had been considering her selling options and choose to consign it at Michaan’s upon hearing the success of antique Asian apparel in the venue. She agreed to consign the skirt at an estimate of $1,000-1,500.
